The Raptors' losing streak continues as they fall to 13-16 against the Nets, who have now won five straight games and improve to 18-12 on the season. This game was incredibly important for the Raptors, who have been struggling in recent weeks. Coming into this matchup, the Raptors had lost 3 games in a row and were looking for a way to break out of their losing streak. The Nets, however, had been on an impressive hot streak and came into this game with a four-game winning streak.

This defeat was particularly painful for Toronto fans who were hoping that their team could finally put together a winning stretch after weeks of disappointment. This loss will certainly be difficult for them to swallow as it marks yet another setback for a team that is desperately trying to stay afloat in a competitive Eastern Conference race. Now more than ever, it is essential for them to step up and turn things around before it's too late if they want any chance at making a deep run come playoff time.

Let's focus on the positive side of things from the game.

Fred VanVleet had another incredible outing, scoring 39 points for the second time in as many starts. He added five assists and five rebounds as well. It is absolutely vital for the Toronto Raptors to have Fred VanVleet perform as he did night in and night out. His back-against-the-wall effort in this game further emphasizes how important his presence is on the court for Toronto. His ability to get to the paint, find open teammates, and make plays on both ends of the floor will be much needed.

Fred was not the only one who played well. He was supported by Scottie Barnes, who added 26 points to the total effort. Scottie was dominant at the end of the game after a slow start. His ability to come alive at the end of the game was a major factor in keeping the Raptros in the game. He was their go to go option in the fourth. The way he used size and strength to get the paint and shoot over KD was impressive and it's proof that he is up there amongst the best young players in the NBA.

Despite putting up a valiant fight, the Raptors were unable to stop Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving from shining brightly as they combined for an impressive 60 points on their way to leading Brooklyn over Toronto. The Nets shot 60.5% from the floor. Irving electrified the arena with his clutch buzzer-beater, giving Brooklyn yet another victory and solidifying their streak. His heroics sent fans into a state of euphoria as they watched Brooklyn outplay Toronto in every facet of play. The Toronto team was left in shock as their hard-fought lead came up just short, crushing the hopes of victory.

Dagger from an old friend.

Watanabe, who scored a total of 17 points against his former team, hit a big 3 with only 14 seconds left on the clock. Watanabe has provided an important spark off the bench by hitting timely shots and playing effective defense against opponents' second units. His ability to hit outside shots has also opened up driving lanes for his teammates and allowed them to get easy baskets close to the rim. His commitment to improving his game and competing on both ends of the court is something that Toronto fans would have certainly appreciated during his time with the Raptors, and it's no surprise they miss him now.

Heartbreaking is an understatement.

This heartbreaking loss marks the fourth consecutive defeat for Toronto, seventh in eight games - something must change if they want to bounce back from this slump. Last night’s matchup showed us that the Raptors are capable of putting up impressive performances against good teams. We can take away from this game that although Kyrie Irving was able to pull off a miraculous win with his last-second shot, improvements were made by the Toronto Raptors on both sides of the court. The encouraging play of Scottie and Fred VanVleet will be something to keep an eye on for Toronto in the future. They need more of that in the next game against the champs, the Golden State Warriors.
