How long has the Raptors been in existence?
Toronto Raptors, an NBA team located in Toronto (Ontario), is home to the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors joined the NBA as an expansion team in 1995, along with the Vancouver Grizzlies. In 2001-02, the Raptors became the only Canadian-based NBA team after the Grizzlies moved to Memphis, Tennessee.
Toronto Raptors players Scotiabank Arena for their home games. The arena is also used by the Maple Leafs, the city's NHL team. Since their foundation, the Raptors were in the NBA playoffs 13 more times. The most recent was in 2021 where they lost 6 to the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Raptors were eligible for their first playoff appearance in 1999/2000. Unfortunately, they were swept by division rivals New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs.
There were not many fans and the team was not exciting. There wasn't much to cheer for, or even watch, and nobody knew why. After years of mediocrity, they decided to change the image of the team and tried to make themselves more appealing to the public.
In 2001, the team hired a professional advertising agency to help develop a marketing strategy that would make them famous in national markets. They created a slogan that screamed "Hear me roar!"
The slogan was used to promote the fact the games were sold out. They just needed a catchy name and a logo. This is where the creative genius of the agency shines through. They combined the expression "hear us roar" and another popular saying, "never die." This became the Toronto Raptors' official motto.

Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, the owners of this team, owns it. MLSE also owns the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs, MLS's Toronto FC, the CFL's Toronto Argonauts, the AHL's Toronto Marlies, and the Toronto Rock lacrosse team.
Why are Toronto Raptors called Raptors
The Toronto Raptors were founded in 1995 as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada. The name and logo of the team were inspired by Jurassic Park's film. The team colors include bright red and purple as well as black and silver.
The Raptors finished their first season with a 21-61 record. This was due to the team's inability to find their feet in the league. The team improved each year and they made their first playoff appearance in 1999.

How to get from your location to the Toronto Raptors' game
Toronto Raptors games take place at the Air Canada Centre (ACC), in downtown Toronto, Ontario Canada. TTC's subway system can take you to ACC. Union Station takes 30 minutes to reach ACC. Bay Street station is the nearest stop to ACC.
Bay street station should be used if Union Station is your destination. From there, follow the signs to ACC. If you arrive at ACC from another direction, please follow the signs to Bay Street station.
From Bay Street station, follow the signs to the ACC.
The venue is accessible for people with disabilities. There are special seating areas for those who require wheelchair access. Sign language interpretation is also available at the ACC.
Parking is free at the ACC. There is limited street parking close by.
