What year did the Raptors win their inaugural playoff series?
Toronto beat New York 3-2 to win their first ever playoff series. This was the first time that Toronto had reached the Eastern Conference semifinals since Lenny Wilkens' tenure as head coach.
How long has the Raptors been in existence?
Toronto Raptors is an NBA franchise that is located in Toronto, Ontario. In 1995, the NBA added the Raptors to its expansion roster along with the Vancouver Grizzlies. The Raptors are the only Canadian-based NBA basketball team.
Toronto Raptors: The Raptors play their home games in Scotiabank Arena. The city's NHL team also uses the arena, the Maple Leafs. Since their inception in 1921, the Raptors have played in the NBA playoffs thirteen times. Their most recent appearance was in 2021 when they were defeated in six games by the Philadelphia 76ers.
1999-2000 saw the Raptors make their first playoff appearance. Unfortunately, they were swept by division rivals New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs.
The fans were few and far between, and the team wasn't too exciting either. There wasn't much to cheer for, or even watch, and nobody knew why. But after years of mediocrity, the team decided to change its image and went out of its way to make itself more appealing to the public.
They hired an advertising agency in 2001 to create a strategy for marketing that would help them achieve national fame. They came up with the slogan "Hear us roar" using creative thinking.
At the time, the team was struggling financially, so they used the slogan to promote the fact that the games were sold out. All they needed was a catchy phrase and a great logo to go along with it. This is where agency's creative genius shines. They combined the phrase "hear us roar" with another popular saying, "never say die." This became the Toronto Raptors' official motto.
How many Toronto Raptors all-stars did they have?
Vince Carter, Antonio Davis (Raptors), DeMar DeRozan (5 Raptors), Kyle Lowry (4 Raptors), Kawhi Leonard (3 Raptors), Pascal Siakam (2 Raptors) and Fred VanVleet (8 Raptors All stars). All of the players who made this All-Star team have been selected by other NBA teams, including Leonard and VanVleet.
Why did NBA leave Vancouver?
Because of a dispute with Vancouver's City Council over arena financing, NBA had to leave Vancouver. The City of Vancouver was to contribute $40million towards the construction a new basketball venue. This would include 12 luxury suites as well as two restaurants, a bar and a hotel. To pay down existing debt, the City Council wanted the $60 million taxpayer money that the City Council would give to the team owner. This meant that the city would have had to borrow $200m in order to build the arena. While the team owners had only to pay $20 million, this was a huge difference. This would leave the city's taxpayers responsible for the repayment of the remaining loan.
The City Council stated that they would be open to the plan if the NBA agreed not to leave Rogers Arena until the new facility opens. The league refused to sign on, claiming that the arena was no longer large enough. They couldn't play there any more because the arena was too small. They felt it unfair to ask them for more revenue by asking them to stay in the smaller venue.
The City Council then asked the province to step in and help out by offering financial assistance. While the province provided $150 million for the project, the City Council required another $100 million. That was when the City decided that it would instead concentrate on building an arena downtown.
What did the Toronto Raptors do when Kawhi Leonard moved out of town?
It was a banner year for the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors won 53 consecutive games during the 2020 season. The team's success was largely due to the play of All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry, who averaged 19.7 points, 7.5 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game. Pascal Siakam was Lowry's All-Star counterpart, scoring 22.9 points per game and grabbing 8.3 rebounds. Role players like Norman Powell and Fred VanVleet also made strong contributions to the Raptors' success. The team's talent and depth helped them overcome injuries to key players, such as Serge Ibaka & Marc Gasol.
The team was led coach Nick Nurse and All NBA Second Teamer Pascal Siakam. . Siakam became a star thanks to bold strategic decisions made by Coach Nurse. He averaged nearly 20+ point per game. Kyle Lowry was selected to the 2020 NBA All-Star Team, his sixth consecutive selection.
The playoffs started earlier than usual this summer, in August at "Bubble" Bay Lake, Florida. The Raptors were defeated by the Brooklyn Nets, winning 4-0. The Raptors lost 0-2 to the Boston Celtics in round two, but OG Anunoby scored a buzzer-beater for Toronto's third game. The series was eventually reduced to seven with Boston winning.

The concession stand serving nachos is one of the most sought-after options. These cheesy snacks contain toppings such as jalapenos, cheese sauce, sour cream, and bacon bits.
