What was the Toronto Raptors first season?

The Toronto Raptors won just 21 games during their debut season. The 1995-1996 Toronto Raptors was the inaugural NBA season. Along with the Vancouver Grizzlies, the Raptors were also one of the expansion teams that joined that league. It was also the first NBA season playing outside of the United States.

Isiah Tom, an All Star point guard and a Detroit Pistons legend was named the team's general manager. He was involved in the draft that produced Damon Stoudamire. He would go on to win Rookie-of-the Year. They also acquired Tracy Murray (and Oliver Miller) in separate trades. Thomas introduced a new primary emblem featuring a dinosaur playing ball and pinstripe uniforms sporting the logo on the front. The Raptors added purple, and red to their new color scheme.

Brendan Malone, new head coach for the Raptors, made his debut on November 3 against the New Jersey Nets at SkyDome. The Raptors lost their next seven contests.

What does "We The North” mean?

The Toronto Raptors are known for their anthem, "We The North," also known to as We The North Nation. It was written by rapper Drake and producer Noah "40" Shebib.

Drake composed the song while he was staying in Toronto with a friend. He recorded Take Care with KanyeWest, another artist. Drake wrote lyrics about his hometown while he was there. Drake wanted it to be universally applicable. The song is about unity. Pride. Hope.

Drake began working on the melody to We The North in London, when he was filming the video for "Nice For What". The instrumental version of the song was recorded in one take.

Drake was working on the lyrics, and 40 came up the chorus. Drake loved the hook and asked to record it. Together, they came up with the final product.

The official music video to "We The North Anthem", was released October 5, 2018. It featured Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes performing along with Drake and other musicians.

How to get to a Toronto Raptors Game from Your Location

Toronto Raptors games occur at Air Canada Centre (ACC) in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. You can reach ACC via the TTC subway system. Union Station takes 30 minutes to reach ACC. Bay Street station is the nearest stop to ACC.

Bay street station should be used if Union Station is your destination. From there, follow the signs to ACC. Please follow the signs to Bay Street Station if you are coming from another direction.

From Bay Street Station, follow the signs towards the ACC.

The venue is accessible for people with disabilities. There are special seating areas for those who require wheelchair access. The ACC also provides sign language interpretation services.

There is no parking fee at the ACC. Parking is not available on the streets nearby.
