What is the name the Toronto Raptors' official mascot?
The Toronto Raptors are a NBA franchise which was established in 1995. They play their games in Scotiabank Arena.
Raptor is the Raptors' giant red dinosaur mascot. Raptor has been entertaining fans since 1995 when he was introduced. Raptor also appears at community events and charity events throughout Toronto. In 2019, he received the NBA Mascot of the Year award for his many years of service to the Raptors organization. Raptor has become a familiar figure in Toronto as well around the NBA. He is also a symbol of Canada's passion for basketball.
Many in the country and throughout the city share Raptor’s enthusiasm for his team as well as its fans. Raptor has led the Raptors to become one of the most successful NBA teams, winning their first title in 2019. This victory marked a huge milestone for basketball fans in Toronto and Canada. How many Toronto Raptors have had all-stars?

Why did NBA leave Vancouver?
NBA left Vancouver after a dispute regarding arena financing. The City was going to contribute $40 million towards constructing a new basketball arena, which would include 12 luxury suites, two restaurants, a bar, and a hotel. To pay down existing debt, the City Council wanted the $60 million taxpayer money that the City Council would give to the team owner. The city would need to borrow $200 million to construct the arena. However, the owners of the team only had to repay $20 million in debt. This would leave the city's taxpayers responsible for the repayment of the remaining loan.
The City Council indicated that they would approve the plan if Rogers Arena was allowed to remain until the new facility is opened. But the league refused, saying that the arena wasn’t large enough. They didn't want to play there anymore because it was too small. They felt it was unfair to ask them to keep playing in a smaller venue when they were not getting more revenue.
The City Council requested financial assistance from the province in return. Although the province offered $150 million to the project, the City Council needed $100 million more. That was when the City decided that it would instead concentrate on building an arena downtown.
How many NBA teams are there in Canada?
The Toronto Raptors, as of 2001 are the only Canadian NBA basketball team. The Vancouver Grizzlies used to be an NBA team between 1995 and 2001. In 2001, however, they relocated to Memphis where they became the Memphis Grizzlies. Canada did have two NBA teams during the late 1990s: the Vancouver Grizzlies, and the Toronto Raptors. However, no other Canadian cities have an NBA team. Canadians are avid basketball fans and often travel to the United States in order to catch games. The Toronto Raptors have been a famous team since their inception in 1995 and continue to draw large crowds for their home games at Scotiabank Arena. Each year, hundreds of Canadians travel to America for the NBA All-Star Weekend. Canada is home to more than one NBA franchise, thanks to its population of 38 million. Many North American basketball fans have debated the possibility of a second team. The Toronto Raptors continue to be the only Canadian representation within the NBA.
Meanwhile, the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) is a professional basketball league based in Canada. The league includes six teams representing Canadian towns and cities: the Fraser Valley Bandits, Abbotsford (BC), Edmonton Stingers(Edmonton (Alberton), Guelph Nighthawks) Guelph Nighthawks [Guelph], Ontario], Hamilton Honey Badgers (“Hamilton”), Saskatchewan Rattlers (“Saskatoon”), and the Niagara River Lions (“St. Catharines”) The CEBL, Canada's only professional basketball league, is currently in operation.
From 2011 to 2020 the National Basketball League of Canada, a professional league for men's basketball, operated. It included eight teams from Halifax and Moncton. Saint John. Cape Breton. Summerside. London. Windsor. Kitchener. The COVID-19 pandemic caused the NBLC to close its operations in 2020.
Canada also has junior basketball leagues, such as the Canadian National Basketball League (CNB), a semi-professional men's league based in Vancouver, BC. CNB is home to teams from British Columbia. Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and Manitoba. Canadian Elite Development League - Another junior basketball league in Canada, the CEDL features teams mostly from the Greater Toronto Area.
