Frequently Asked Questions

How was the first year of existence for the Toronto Raptors?

It was difficult for the Toronto Raptors to make it in the NBA's first season. Isiah Thomas became GM and hired Brendan Malone as head coach of the new Raptors franchise in 1995, and the team soon acquired several talented players in the draft and through trades. The Raptors defeated the Chicago Bulls once in that season but finished the season with a 21-61 record.

In 1996, Toronto drafted Marcus Camby, who became Rookie of the Year and formed part of the starting line-up with Alvin Williams at point guard. Damon Stoudamire was traded later in 1997. Toronto made more roster changes over the years to ensure future success.

Despite all of these changes, the team struggled through its first few seasons in NBA. Toronto lost the 2000 series to the New York Knicks after a period of rebuilding and transition.

Why did NBA leave Vancouver?

Because of a dispute with Vancouver's City Council over arena financing, NBA had to leave Vancouver. The City of Vancouver was to contribute $40million towards the construction a new basketball venue. This would include 12 luxury suites as well as two restaurants, a bar and a hotel. However, the City Council wanted $60 million in taxpayer money for the team owners to pay off their existing debt. This meant the city would have to borrow $200 million to build the arena, while the team owners only had to pay back $20 million in debt. This would mean that the city's taxpayers would be responsible for paying back the rest of the loan.

If the NBA would agree to keep Rogers Arena open until the opening of the new facility, the City Council was willing to approve the plan. The league refused to sign on, claiming that the arena was no longer large enough. Because it was too small, they didn't want anymore to play there. They felt it was unfair to ask them to keep playing in a smaller venue when they were not getting more revenue.

The City Council requested financial assistance from the province in return. Although the province was willing to donate $150 million, the City Council still needed additional $100 million. That's when the City decided to drop its plans and focus on building a new downtown arena instead.

What's the name of Toronto Raptors mascot?"

The Toronto Raptors are a NBA franchise which was established in 1995. They play their games at Scotiabank Arena.

Raptor is the Raptors' giant red dinosaur mascot. Raptor first appeared in 1995. He also makes appearances throughout Toronto, participating in charity events and community initiatives. For his many years of support to the Raptors, he was named NBA Mascot of the Years in 2019. Raptor is an iconic figure in Toronto and the NBA. He is one of the most well-known mascots in professional sport. He is also a symbol of Canada's passion for basketball.

Many across the country and in cities all over the country agree with Raptor's enthusiasm about his team and its supporters. Raptor has led the Raptors to become one of the most successful NBA teams, winning their first title in 2019. This was a historic moment for Canadian basketball fans. Raptor continues to be a major source of pride for all those who call themselves part of the Raptors family. As long as he is around, there will be plenty Raptors pride. Long live the Raptor. Go, Toronto Raptors!

How To

Is it possible to bring my camera with me to a Raptors' game?

You'll be fine as long as you follow the rules. It is acceptable to bring a camera to an NBA match. It's not illegal. It is important to be aware that there are risks.

First, you must consider whether you must take pictures during the game. You don't need a heavy DSLR or smartphone to take great photos as long as you are near the court.

You should also check these tips to improve your basketball photos if sports photography is something you are interested in.

The second thing you must think about is which camera you are going to be using. You will need a professional-grade digital camera if your goal is to capture action shots or memorable moments with friends.

Also, you need to consider how much time it will take to set up your shot. For instance, if you're going to shoot hoops with your kids, you may want to invest in a tripod and a remote release instead of carrying heavy equipment.

Finally, you have to figure out where to store your gear. It's not possible to expect someone to give you a memory card after you leave the arena. You'll need to bring extra batteries and cables or have somewhere to store your things while you watch the game.

In short, if you want to take quality photographs at a sporting event, you must plan ahead. Doing so will help ensure you capture some great images you can enjoy later on.
